Hired by Serving Seniors, formerly Senior Community Centers, and working with Scatena Daniels Communications, F&L Digital Media Solutions produced a video promoting the agency’s annual gala “Experience of a Lifetime.”
For this project we interviewed Derek Slevin, a local photographer, about his project, “Portrait of the Forgotten,” and how he is helping raise money for the agency.
The gala raised $250,000 on April 3, with event proceeds directly filling 100,000 plates with nutritious meals for low-income San Diego seniors.
Also played at the gala, a video tribute to philanthropists Gary and Mary West for their incredible work and support of at-risk seniors in San Diego County. This unique “thank you” video starred seniors directly helped by the agency.
About Serving Seniors (formerly known as Senior Community Centers):
Serving Seniors is a nonprofit agency dedicated to helping seniors in poverty live healthy and fulfilling lives. Founded in 1970, the organization creates collaborative partnerships to support their “wellness model,” which provides nutrition, health, mental health, advocacy, transitional housing for homeless seniors and permanent supportive housing. This safety net of services keeps seniors out of emergency rooms, reduces hospital days and delays and/or eliminates the need for long-term care. The agency has been skillfully led for 19 years by Chief Executive Officer and President Paul Downey. Downey is also the current president of the National Association of Nutrition and Aging Services Programs (NANASP) and is a commissioner for the California Commission on Aging.
